Lush Korea to expand use of locally sourced beans

THE WHAT? Lush Korea has struck a deal with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to up its use of locally sourced ingredients. The pair signed a memorandum of understanding which will see the ethical cosmetics brand use locally grown beans and pulses in beauty products.

THE DETAILS According to a report published by Korea JoongAng Daily, Lush already uses locally sourced ingredients in more than 80 products, including red beans from Yecheon County and tofu from North Chungcheong.

THE WHY? Through the agreement, Lush secures a stable supply of beans, shoring up its supply chain not to mention the eco credentials of using locally grown ingredients. For Korea’s farmers, this diversification ensures constant demand for their crops.
